Mercer County has 5 deer processors in this directory, spread across 5 towns: Fredonia, Greenville, Jackson Center, Jamestown and Mercer. Shops with Google reviews here average 4.3 stars, below the statewide 4.6. Minor Acres Packing Co leads the ranking with a 4.7 average from 30 Google reviews.
To donate venison through Hunters Sharing the Harvest, use Minor Acres Packing Co, Red Barn Butcher Shop, Country Butcher Shop and 1 more. None of these shops is on the PGC cooperating processor list. Under the 2026-27 CWD rules you don't need one, since any shop can take your deer as long as high-risk parts go out with the trash. That's 80% of local shops in HSH, against 36% statewide. No shop here advertises after-hours drop-off, so plan to arrive during business hours or keep the deer cold overnight.
None of these shops publish a full service list online, so ask about snack sticks, bologna and vacuum sealing when you call. None of these listings mention bear or elk, so call first if you have one. No shop here publishes a base price online, so ask for the standard deer rate and any add-ons when you call.
Mercer County is in the PGC's Northwest Region. Region at a glance: Allegheny National Forest country, from Erie and Warren south through Venango, Mercer and Clarion. If every cooler here is full, neighboring Lawrence, Crawford, Venango and Beaver counties have 17 listed processors between them. If you want your deer tested for CWD, ask the shop to save the head, or drop it at a free PGC head bin.

Drop-off checklist
- Tag it right away. Tag the deer immediately after harvest and before you move it. The tag goes on the ear and stays there until the deer is processed.
- Field dress and cool fast. Remove entrails, drain the cavity and get the deer cold. In warm weather, pack the cavity with bagged ice.
- High-risk parts go in the trash. New for 2026-27: you can move a deer anywhere, but once it leaves the kill site the head, backbone and spleen must go out with commercial trash. A processor handles that for you.
- Report within 10 days. Online, by phone at 1-800-838-4431, or with the digest report card.
