69 PA Deer Processors Are CWD Cooperators. 28 Counties Have None.
For the 2026-27 seasons the Game Commission dropped the rule that sent deer from a Disease Management Area to a cooperating processor. You can now move a deer anywhere in the state, but once it leaves the kill site, its head, backbone and spleen have to go out with commercial trash. Cooperating processors are the shops the PGC has approved to dispose of those parts properly, which makes them the simplest drop-off if you don't want to deal with the parts yourself. There are 69 on the 2026 PGC map, in 39 counties. 28 counties have none.
The counties with the most processors don't always have the most cooperators. York has 15 processors and 1 cooperator, Westmoreland has 12 processors and 1 cooperator and Butler has 11 processors and 1 cooperator. Lancaster went the other way with 9, the most in the state.
The Southcentral Region has 12 cooperators among 68 processors, even though south-central Pennsylvania has produced the large majority of the state's CWD cases. 60 of the 69 cooperators list all four deer seasons on the PGC map; the rest list some seasons only.
